  • Yes. The pre-visit questionnaires are mandatory for each visit and MUST be completed accurately and fully for each appointment. Failure to do this may result in appointment cancellation.

  • Appointments can be scheduled at www.psychmatter.com by clicking the “Schedule an Appointment” button. For established patients, scheduling can also be done through the patient portal.

  • For simple questions arising between appointments, messages can be sent to your provider through the patient portal. Questions sent on weekdays will be answered within 72 hours via return message. Messages will not be answered over the weekend or outside of business hours. Please keep all messages to-the-point, appropriate, and professional. If the message will require a lengthy and detailed response, you may be asked to schedule an appointment so that your concerns can be more thoroughly addressed. If your provider is out of office, your message will be answered as soon as they return to practice. There is no covering provider. If the question or concern is emergent in nature, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for assistance.

  • It is important that your provider has enough time to address your needs. If you are overly late for your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule. Specific cut off times are as follows: 5 minutes late for a 15 minute appointment; 10 minutes late for a 30 minute appointment; and 20 minutes late for a 60 minute appointment.

  • Psych Matter providers do their best to be on time, but situations can arise that make them run late. If your provider is late, REMAIN IN THE WAITING ROOM. Your provider will ALWAYS show up. However, if you cannot wait, you will not be billed for the appointment. Please keep in mind that if you are not in the waiting room when your provider joins, they will assume you could no longer wait, and the appointment will be cancelled.

  • An appointment canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time is considered to be a ‘no-show’. No-shows are billed 50% of the designated appointment fee. Repeated no-shows and cancellations may result in discharge from the practice.

  • Your provider will discuss appointment frequency with you. We have found that our patients have fewer mental health crises when they have regular check ups. Depending on when you were last seen, your provider may postpone refills until you have been seen for an appointment. At maximum, you must be seen every 12 months to maintain your active status as a Psych Matter patient.

  • Psych Matter providers only serve patients ages 18 years and older. If a Psych Matter patient is not in charge of their own care for any reason, a legal guardian must be present at every appointment to coordinate treatment.

  • Completion of FMLA, short term, and long-term disability paperwork is at the discretion of your provider. Depending on the complexity of paperwork, an appointment may be required to complete paperwork. If paperwork can be completed outside of an appointment, there may be a fee ranging from $25-$50, depending on the type of paperwork being completed.

  • In most cases, your prescriptions will be filled during your appointment. In the event that you need prescriptions filled outside of an appointment, prescription refill requests can be made through the patient portal. Like messages, prescription requests will not be handled outside of business hours, including weekends. Prescription refills may take as long as 2 to 3 business days to submit, so please plan ahead.

  • Psych Matter accepts a number of insurance plans. Many times, your insurance plan will dictate how much you pay for an appointment, including any co-pay charges. For cash pay patients, the costs for appointments are as follows:

                 15 min appointment: 80$

                 30 min appointment: 120$

                 60 min appointment: 200$

New Eval (90 min appointment): 270$

  • Assistance with billing and any billing questions can be directed to billing@psychmatter.com or should be asked during your appointment.

  • YES. The protection of your personal information is of the upmost importance to us. All billing information, including credit card, debit card, or other methods of payment, are protected by Nextgen’s cutting edge electronic medical record system. Your medical notes are similarly protected. If you would like Psych Matter to communicate with anyone regarding your mental health, you must have a completed Release of Information (ROI) form on file. If an ROI is not on file—or the person/entity is not listed on the ROI—no information can or will be released. Please be aware that there are certain state and government laws that can bypass this policy. An ROI must be renewed and re-filed annually. Once filed, an ROI remains active unless it is canceled via written request and with the appropriate forms.

  • In case of a crisis or emergency that requires immediate assistance, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Psych Matter is an independent, unaffiliated private practice. There is no on-call provider, and the services provided are not sufficient for acute situations/emergencies.

  • Psych Matter provides telemedicine psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy to patients age 18 years and older. Treatment is provided by a board licensed doctor of medical science, physician associate in psychiatry who has acquired a certification of additional qualification in psychiatry through the NCCPA and is approved for independent practice by Utah’s department of professional licensing.

  • Yes. In accordance with current law, patients must be inside Utah’s state borders at the time of their appointment. However, your residence can be elsewhere. Many patients visit Utah for their appointments, which satisfies the law.

  • Psych Matter appointments use Nextgen’s e-visit services. You need a modern, up to date device capable of video chatting, and you need to know how to use the device. You also need a reliable internet connection. Please note that Psych Matter does not provide in-person appointments or tech support of any kind.

  • Psych Matter and its providers are located in Utah within the United States.

  • You are 100% responsible for the information you enter into your medical/billing record. If you accidentally misspell or mistype something, it can be fixed. However, if this results in your insurance not being billed appropriately for services, YOU as the patient are responsible for the bill. Your card on file will be charged for the visit, and you will have to seek reimbursement through your insurance by submitting a receipt. Psych Matter cannot re-bill or seek reimbursement for you.

  • Psych Matter takes cash pay patients at a greatly discounted price compared to most hospital systems in Utah. You will need to provide credit card information through the patient portal, and your card will be billed appropriately for services.
